Exposition of best reporters’ photos "Press Photo Belarus" is open

The results of the contest were announced in May. The jury that chose the winners consisted of famous Belarusian and international experts: head of the Press Photographer’s Club Jonas Staselis, representatives of the Associated Press, famous blogger drugoi, English photographer James Hill and others.

More than 70 authors and about 2000 pictures took part in the contest in 2011. The best ones were chosen out of 23 finalists.


Here are some of the winners' pictures:

Grand Prix of the contest. By Syarhei Hudzilin

Watching evening news is obligatory for all soldiers. Soldiers have to watch the information programme “Panorama” on the Belarusian State TV Channel at 9 p.m.

 

Victar Drachou took the first position in the nomination “People on the news” (single). Here is a picture of a woman having a rest after harvesting wheat on a hot day made in the village of Yuryeva, 75 kilometres from Minsk.

Henadz Mazheika took the second position in the nomination with his photo of ex-candidate and Belarusian poet Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu during his pre-election tour across Belarus.

 

 

Uladzimir Mikalaichyk became the winner in the nomination “Sport” (single) for his picture made on the River Islach.

 

Victar Baikouski took the second position. The picture was taken during the football match “Dynama” Brest- “Dynama” Minsk in Brest.

 Victar Drachou took the third position. This is a photo of Danish tennis player Caroline Wozniacki during a friendly match with Belarusian Victoria Azarenka.

The nomination “News” (single). Vasil Fedasenka took the first and the second positions. The first picture is a photo of a woman trying to distinguish the words of her relative who is in the police bus for the detained on the Election Day in December 2010.

The third position – a photo of workers handing over the remains of German soldiers who died in the Second World War during their reburial in the village of Schatkava.


Victar Drachou was awarded a bronze medal for the colourful photo made in the street market in the village of Hoyensk in the nomination “Everyday Life”. Two men are trying on caps.

Many photographers, journalists, advertisers and so-called celebrities and party people attended the opening of the exhibition and the first birthday of the TUT.BY gallery. “Akute”, a band from Mahilyou, was responsible for the musical accompaniment.
