Even children have to pay fines for “cult of Lukashenka’s personality” in Rechytsa

A fine imposed on a democratic activist from Rechytsa was paid by his daughter.
The head of the regional affiliate of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) Aleh Shabetnik was fined for 1.5 million BRB for the printed materials of the Union of the Left and leaflets “On Cult of Lukashenka’s Personality” confiscated at the Ukrainian-Belarusian border. He was paying the fine part by part. Suddenly, he found out that more then 500 thousand BRB disappeared from the account of his 11-year-old daughter Lida. It was the money the girl received from the state to compensate for the loss of her mother.

Aleg Shabetnіk says:

“I came to the bank to find out how much money was on the account. I saw that 539 thousands had been written off it. I asked: “What’s the problem?” They said the money was written off “for some fine”. Nobody knew what fine they were talking about”.

According to Shabetnіk, officers of the court are getting interested in his car now.
