EU regrets Belarus-US diplomatic row

Slovenia that currently holds the presidency of the European Union, has expressed regret over Belarus's decision to declare ten US diplomats personae non gratae, reports Belapan. Slovenia said in a statement that this move by the official Minsk was not justified and did not meet the interests of the Belarusian people. This decision puts a question mark over the possibility of the US embassy in Minsk to perfom its diplomatic functions.

Slovenia has expressed solidarity with the United States and its diplomats. Slovenia also urged on the Belarusian leadership to revise its decision to begin immediate steps in order to normalize the relations between Belarus and the United States on the basis of mutually advantegous cooperation.
