Egg thrown at Polish president in Ukraine (video)
A young man attacked Bronisław Komorowski when he was leaving the church in Lutsk after the service in memory of Ukrainian Insurgent Army victims.
The incident occurred at about 2 p.m. on July 14 when Mr Komorowski stopped to greet the crowd. There were many guards nearby but a young man easily managed to throw an egg at the Polish president.
Mr Komnorowski was led aside, his jacket spoilt. The young man was thrown on the ground and detained (he is a 21-year-old native of Zaporozhye, UNIAN reports).
The reason for the attack is yet to be known.
Bronisław Komorowski is paying a visit to Ukraine in connection with the 70th anniversary of the Volyn tragedy. In March 1943, militants from the Ukrainian Insurgent Army began killing loca Poles who lived in the city of Volyn. The Poles retaliated with massacre that ended with a great number of victims.
