Dangerous virus steals up to Belarus

Our country is getting ready to meet the virus while first suspected cases of swine flue are being registered in Poland. Swine flu has already been registered in Mexico. Great Britain, Spain, Israel, the USA, Canada and New Zealand. The virus disease is spreading violently and is characterized by high mortality. The virus has been assigned the fourth danger rank out of six. The World Health Organization notes that symptoms of swine flu are not always evident and it is hard to reveal them.

The virus is approaching Belarus. Three people have been taken to hospital in Poland. Swine flu is suspected in them. The press secretary of the Chief Sanitary Inspection of Poland Jan Bondar has informed ERB about it.

Jan Bondar: “There are two patients in Warsaw and the most suspicious case has been registered in Olshtyn. There are three people having the symptoms but the decease has not been confirmed yet”.

All these people returned from Mexico a few days ago. One woman is a Mexican citizen. They felt bad and came to local polyclinics. Then they were sent to corresponding hospitals. One of the cases is not likely to be confirmed because the man has spent 13 days in one of Warsaw hospitals and no swine flu has been revealed in him.

Belarusian medical services are getting ready for the virus. The Belarusian sanitary and epidemic service has made the sanitary control stricter to prevent this epidemic. The Chief sanitary physician of Belarus has signed the order on enhancement of sanitary and epidemic measures to be ready for a possible swine flu pandemic.

The chief epidemiologist of the Ministry of Healthcare Ina Karaban told ERB:

"The sanitary control in airports and other check-points has become stricter in connection with the order. We are also checking the health condition of passengers, especially children and young people, arriving from Mexico and the USA. They have to undergo a procedure of body thermometry if there is any suspicion”.

The head of the press service of the Border Committee Alyaksandr Tsishchanka has told ERB that Belarusian customs officers use gauze bandage in “Minsk” airport:

“We stick to the recommendations worked out to prevent the spread of the infection. Military men and customs officials working in the national airport “Minsk” use gauze bandages. They are necessary to prevent the spread of the respiratory infection”.

According to Ina Karaban, the symptoms of the virus are the same as any flu symptoms:

“It is like ordinary flu, the symptoms are the same as any seasonal flu registered in our country. The illness starts with high temperature. Cough and cold appear the next day”.

Ina Karaban claims that it is possible to take ordinary antivirus medicine sold in Belarusian drugstores to recover from the disease. Employees of Minsk drugstores have assured ERB that there has been no rush yet.
