Congress of pro-democracy forces to take place on March 17-18

The political council of the united opposition in Belarus has set the dates for the Congress of Democratic Forces. The leader of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, Vincuk Vjacorka shared with the European Radio for Belarus the details of the yesterday's meeting of the council.

"The political council set the date of the congress for March 17-18, 2007.


The council also discussed and approved the plans of celebrations of the Freedon Day on March 25. I stress that the plans were preliminary approved. We also discussed once again the procedure of nominating the delegates to the congress.

Today, we are talking about 600 delegates. Additionally, seats will be offered to the prominent activists from the non-political civil organizations in the framework of the VIP quotas," Mr. Vjacorka said.

Aliaksandr Milinkevich was absent at the meeting. According to Vjacorka, Milinkevich was abroad on a business trip, but the council consulted him on the decisions taken.
