Collective farmers get 125 thousands per month is they do not smoke or drink alcoholic beverages
The “Radzima” collective farm has spent almost 50 thousand dollars for award fees for those who do not drink alcoholic beverages and the number of smokers has become an economic indicator. More than half of all workers on Byalynistk “Radzima” collective farm are non-smokers now. An unusual obligation was assumed together with plans for the harvest during the last meeting of collective farmers: the number of smokers should reduce by 15%. Non-smokers will try to persuade 58 smokers into getting rid of their habit. If they succeed, the award fee will become 15% of the wage instead of the current 10%.
ERB asked the head of the farm Alyaksandr Lapatsentau about the way he checked whether people really stopped smoking.
Alyaksandr Lapatsentau: At first I thought it would be a problem. A young family arrived and the woman smoked secretly for a month. People started asking why she was getting award fees and still smoking. They came and informed me. People can control it very well.
By the way, the collective farm paid 111 million roubles(!) to non-smokers last year – it is 50 thousand dollars. According to the chief economist, the collective farm is a leader in the district. So they have money to pay award fees to non-smokers and scholarship to schoolchildren – 105 thousands every three months. They are planning to increase the milk yield to 8 thousand 756 tons which is 200 tons more this year.
The head of the dairy farm of “Radzima” Svyatlana Kalakustava is sure that the healthy life-style does not influence the work. However, there is not a single smoking milkmaid on their farm.
ERB has found out that collective farmers from “Radzima” gave up smoking in different ways: some people did it after an explanatory conversation; others made use of medicinal substances.
Svyatlana Kalakustava: I know it from my experience – they bought pills for smokers and gave up smoking in a week. For example, my husband started smoking at 20. Now he is 40 and he gave up the habit in a week.
The highest wage of a milkmaid was 700 thousands in February. Besides the 10% award fee, people who do not drink alcoholic beverages can get 15% more. It turns out that you can get 125 thousands per month just for you healthy life-style.
Svyatlana Kalakustava: They can also get 15% for technological discipline and for not drinking alcoholic beverages.
A seed technician Alyaksandr Mihailau gave up smoking 6 years ago and assured ERB that he has not smoked a single cigarette since then.
Alyaksandr Mіhailau: Believe it or not, but I was a smoker and I presented my pack of cigarettes to some other person one day and gave up smoking.
