Belarusians urged to buy water meters
The population of Belarus should take a more active part in energy saving, said Belarus Minister for Housing and Communal Services Uladzimir Belahvostau.
In the course of this year, separate water meters will be installed in all the private apartments across Belarus, he said. There will also be a provision for citizens to pay in installments for the meters, as the communal service companies will receive loans for this purpose.
If the meters are installed at the cost of the apartment owners, the latter will be offered 20% discounts on their water bills. The Minister also proposed "to give a manager to every house". He stressed that almost 83% of the housing resources had been privitized and the citizens had to decide how to manage their houses.
