Belarus officially joins Europe's cultural policy

Minister of culture Barys Sviatlou said during the launch that the White Book was the key document that defined the nation's strategy in the field of culture and cultural heritage. According to Mr Sviatlou, the publication of the White Book in the Belarusian language "means Belarus joining European values and principles which are the foundation for the stable existence and development of the society," reports BELTA.


The White Book on Inter-Cultural Dialogue was approved by the foreign ministers of the Council of Europe's member states in Strasbourg in 2008. The idea of the book is that inter-cultural dialogue is based on such values like democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Belarusian became the 25th language to which the document had been translated.


The Belarusian edition has a small circulation of 100 copies to be handed around the local town hallsin Belarus and the Council of Europe.
