BAJ announces Dmitry Zavadski Prize winners
Nasha Niva's photo correspondent Andrei Lyankevich, radio journalist Henadz Kesner and photographer Yury Dzyadzinkin have been announced as this year's winners of Dmitry Zavadski Prize titled "For Courage and Professional Performance".
The prize was founded by the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ) in 2001. The award ceremony is expected to take place in late October in Minsk.
“These are truly decent and professional people. The Dmitry Zavadski Prize is given for courage and professionalism in the first place", Tatsiana Melnichuk from the Belarusian Association of Journalists's board told the European Radio for Belarus.
Dmitry Zavadski, a cameraman for the Russian television network ORT went missing in 2000. His fate has remained unknown up to now.
