Architecture monument demolished in Minsk

House No 15 on Komsomolskaya Street in Minsk, a registered architecture heritage, has been demolished, history and architecture researcher Siarhei Khareuski told the European Radio for Belarus. "The house was in an exellent condition. It hosted a shop of the Swiss watches. But the design of the building did not meet owner's requirements".

Khareuski stressed that the way the house was demolished did not meet the international standards. The demolition was not transparent or public. Khareuski said that people could not react to this rapidly due to the lack of information.

He reminded that the number of architecture monuments had reduced to 40 from 220 since the pre-Soviet times.
