13:45 “Termaplast” workers demand wages increase

Workers from two “Termaplast” workshops have demanded that the administration should increase their wages.
A group of workers arrived at the administration office this morning and announced their demands.

The workers’ trade union (which is part of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus) informed about it. But the trade union refused to report whether the workshops stopped their work today.

Referring to unofficial sources, some mass media reported that there was a wildcat strike at “Termaplast”.

"Now the workshops are functioning, there is no strike. The director is trying to find possible way of increasing wages there", - informed the trade union and stressed that the question of “increasing wages” is often discussed by the plant’s administration.

According to a trade union representative, the average wage was 460 thousand BRB in February. A Minsk plant “Termaplast” is a leading enterprise in the field of plasticware production.

The enterprise produces accumulators’ basic parts, packaging for medical devices, consumer and technical goods and casting molds. There are about 700 people working at the enterprise.
