12:36 Latvia demands compensation from Belarus, Belarus demands it from Russia

Latvia demands compensation from Belarus for the damage done to the West Dzvina. The Latvian side is also accusing the Belarusian authorities of concealing the truth about the disaster at the oil pipe in Beshankovichy District (Vitsebsk Region).
Let us remind you that the disaster at the pipe line Unecha-Ventspils happened on March 23. First the fuel leaked into the river Ula, a tributary of the West Dzvina. The oil patch reached a Latvian town Kraslau on the morning of March 26.

It was said that the 100 tons of diesel oil leaked from the oil pipe. But Latvian officials say that the length of the oil patch is about 100 kilometers and that it seems that the leakage has not even been stopped.

At the same time Belarus demands compensation for losses from the Russian company “Zapad-Transeksportproduct”. The Minister of environmental protection Lyavontsіi Haruzhyk has recently made this announcement.
