12:08 Belarus pilots to return home from Somalia in two days

The crew of the Belarus-registered Ilyushin 76 cargo plane shot at while landing at the Somalian capital airport is to return home with the next two days. A group of experts from Belarus is currently investigating the incident.

The Department of Aviation of the Ministry of Transport described the incident as unprecedented. The civil war-torn Somalia is known for being danagerous for flying, but this is the first incident involving a Belarusian plane.


Ilyushin 76, belonging to the Transaviaexport company was shot at from a grenade launcher when on landing approach in Mogadishu. The aircraft was part of the UN-approved peace-making operation, reports ONT channel.
