Zenit fans jailed in Minsk

The Minsk police reported no incidents involving Zenit St. Petersburg fans after the Russian team's Wednesday's European League game against BATE Barysau. But the police appear to have concealed the fact that two fans were arrested before the game and have been held in custody since then. Friends claim that Interior Minister Uladzimir Navumau gave the order to put their associates in jail.
У The Belarusian media reported about the arrest of two Russian fans caught sleeping out in the street after celebrating Zenit's victory. But Russian fans wrote on Internet sites about a trial of their friends in Minsk.

According to the Russian fans, two Zenit supporters, Sergei "Mak" and Sergei "Marych," were arrested after one of them walked out of the sidewalk on the road to take a picture. A car pulled up and one of the passengers told Sergei to get away from the road, but he refused and swore at the man. The man reportedly turned out to be Interior Minister Navumau.

The boys apologized but that did not help. On the following day, the two fans were sentenced to seven days in jail.

The defense lawyer intends to appeal the sentence on Monday because Friday is a day off in Belarus. The Russian embassy in Minsk is reportedly aware of the incident.  ў Беларусі.
