United Nations Day marked today

The international community celebrates the United Nations Day on October 24. UNO is a unique international organization. It was established after the Second World war by representatives of 51 countries, which were willing to maintain peace and security in the whole world, to develop friendly relations between the countries and to render support to social progress, as well as to improve life conditions and situation with human rights.  65 years ago, on October 24, 1945 the charter of this organization was ratified. The history of Belarusian external political activity is strongly connected with the UNO. BSSR was one of the originators of its creation. On October 27, 1945 the founding conference in San Francisco took the decision to include BSSR in the initial squad of members of the new organization. This was the acknowledgement of the priceless input of the Belarusian people into the victory over fascism, and honouring the memory of millions of Belarusians who gave their lives for freedom of not only their nation, but many peoples in Europe, informs BELTA.
