New film about 1863 uprising against Moscow (video)
The new short documentary about the uprising led by Kastus Kalinouski premiers in Art Manor and on tut.by.
Producer Pavel Dounar has prepared the film Following Rebels’ Way for the 150th anniversary of the uprising of 1863-1864. Well-known writers and historians Uladzimir Arlou, Adam Maldzis, Ales Smalyanchuk, Ales Krautsevich, Ales RAdzyuk, priest Leanid Akalovich and painter Ales Marachnkin played in the film.
The film raises such questions as what the uprising is for Belarus, who the rebels were, why they are still haunting some people today. Part of the film is about Konstanty Kalinowski’s life and activities, his romantic relations with Maria Yamant. The film touches upon issues that are not related to Belarus – the effect of the uprising on the Civil War in the USA, tut.by reports.
