Ulad Vyalichka of Belarus appointed as Civic Society Forum interim speaker

Ulad Vyalichka, head of the International Consortium EuroBelarus non-governmental organization, has been appointed as the interim speaker of Eastern Partnership's Civic Society Forum. The previous speaker Siarhei Matskevich was also from Belarus. The permanent speaker will be elected in January 2011. Vyalichka told Belapan that he was also re-elected as the national coordinator of the Belarusian platform at Civic Society Forum.

The participants of Forum's second conference that took place in Berlin recently agreed on the priorities of cooperation with the authorities and European structures, including the issues of visa liberalization, judiciary reforms, education and youth policy.

Vyalichka noted that "an active part of Belarusian civil society will continue working on 'road maps'. He stressed that none of the third-sector groups from Belarus are holding a monopoly over cooperation with the European Union.
