Ukraine celebrates Independence Day

Ukraine is celebrating its Independence Day today. The country’s Parliament proclaimed sovereignty on August 24, 1991.
The authorities of the country participated in the divine service that started in the morning in Sofia cathedral in Kiev. The government refused to organize military parades dated for the Independence Day in 2005.

The last military parade took place on August 24, 2001. A festive reception will be organized by high-ranking authorities of the country, people’s deputies and diplomats on behalf of the President on the territory of the natural reserve “Kiev Sofia”.

The celebration will end with fireworks.
