The emergency airplane IL-203 belonging to Bellesavia has crashed a few kilometres away from the airport near Brest. Commander Mihail Myadzvedzeu and senior pilot Alyaksandr Barysyuk have died, the rescue service reports.

The plane crashed near the village of Haby at 12.09 on June 14. The pilots were monitoring forest fires in the area. The plane caught fire right after the crash, Virtual Brest reports. Local inhabitants managed to take one of the pilots out of the plane but his heart was not beating. Medics certified his death. The other pilot burnt down inside the cockpit.

The plane flew at a very low height over Haby even on June 13, local villagers say. It was even closer to the ground on June 14. Probably, the pilot thought that they could accidentally touch the power line and decided to evade the collision. The plane snapped into spin.

A commission will investigate the accident. All IL-103 flights have been stopped for now.
