We must celebrate 100 years of Belarusian People's Republic (BNR) together, Head of Belarus State TV and Radio Company Henadz Davydka told Nasha Niva newspaper. At the same time, he also admitted he wanted to learn more details about the people who founded BNR.

“Personally, I still have some questions to be answered. Who were those declared the Belarusian People's Republic? How did they end? What did they begin with? What mistakes did they do? It is common knowledge people wanted independence. What did happen in the end? What had a bigger impact on the fate of our today's independence? Probably, if there were no BNR there would be no Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic, but that is not a fact," Davydzka said.

Henadz Davydka also said that Belarus state TV will cover BNR's 100 years. "We will do a sincere historical investigation. I onlt would like this date to foster our nation's consolidation. We must celebrate or mark together rather than look for things that separate us," the state TV and Radio chief noted.

In December 2017, Belarus marked 100 years since the 1st All Belarusian Congress. Its significance was positively described by state media and the head of state. The Congress had set up a council that later founded the Belarusian People's Republic. The state idependence of Belarusian People's Republic was declared on 25 March 1918. Pro-independence and pro-democracy forces in Minsk plan to stage a massive rally on this day in Minsk to celebrate 100 years of Belarusian national statehood.
