Syamashka: Customs Union to blame for 2013 economic failure

According to Syamashka, the production decreased by 2% in comparison with 2012, Radio Liberty reports. It is an obvious failure in the work of the whole industry and certain production giants like BelAZ and the Belarusian Metallurgical Plant, the official claimed.

Warehouses are also full of products now, Syamashka added.

The legislation of the Customs Union, its restrictions and exceptions, is one of the reasons for the failure, Syamashka said. For instance, the Russian government forbade importing Belarusian agricultural equipment to Russia. MAZ will not be competitive due to the utilization fee in Russia either – the prices will increase by 18%, the vice PM admitted.

The industry fulfilled the plan by 95.7% in the first 9 months of this year, Syamashka said. At the same time, the goal was 107%.
