Swine fever at Belarus border: 21 Smolensk Oblast districts affected
Swine fever has been registered in 21 out of 25 districts of Russian Smolensk Oblast.
Only Glinkovaski, Yershytski, Tyomkinski and Dorogobuzhski Districts are still clean, Interfax reports. The Russian Agricultural Inspectorate announced Smolensk Oblast ‘an area of African swine fever hazard’ in July. The fever will stay there for the next few years, the inspectorate thinks.
There were three official hotbeds of African swine fever in Belarus last year – two of them were in Hrodna Province and one – in Vitsebsk Province. The fever was also registered in Baranavichy, Brest authorities recently admitted.
