Survey: 90% of Belarusians to vote at presidential election

Almost 90% of Belarusians are planning to vote at the presidential election this year. The information has been received in sociological surveys, sociologists announced at a press conference in Minsk today.

Over 90% of citizens know about the election, sociologists say. Methods of high accuracy were used in the survey, ONT claims. Over 1500 people (city dwellers and villagers of both sexes and different professions and age) were interrogated. Belarusian sociologists are getting ready for exit polls now.

The first surveys study people’s mood, their level of trust to the state institutions and their opinion about the current events and financial situation, director of the BSU Centre for Sociological and Political Studies David Rotman said.

Rotman: "We can predict the further development of the situation and make a forecast about the leadership of some organizations at the election.”

The CEC suggested organizing elections on October 11. The House of Representatives may approve the date on June 30.
