Statkevich re-elected head of BSDP (Hramada) organizing committee
The party will keep functioning as an organizing committee because it is unlikely to be registered.
The organizing committee of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Narodnaya Hramada) re-elected Mikola Statkevich chairperson on February 28. The decision was made after a secret vote at an organizing committee meeting in Minsk.
The organizing Committee is not hoping to get a big room for their constituent assembly even in the current period of certain liberalization, BelaPAN quotes Statkevich. The authorities will probably refuse official registration to the party, the politician thinks. That is why it will continue working as an organizing committee.
The first session of the constituent assembly of the BSDP (Narodnaya Hramada) was held on November 25, 2007.
