Salary of BT journalists is doubled
The state has improved the support of its ideologists. Syarheyi Sidorski has signed a regulation according to which the salary of journalists and heads of organization of the National State broadcasting company, “Second National Channel” and “Capital’s television” closed companies will double. According to the Belarusian legislation, state organizations cannot use the first rank tariff rate higher than the existing norm. This norm conforms to the living wage.
The monthly wage of employees of such organizations is counted on the basis on the first rank tariff rate according to the General tariff scale. The extra pay depends on the monthly wage and is also limited to some per cents of the wage.
But the state made an exception for some organizations and let them use an increased coefficient of the basic limit. There used to be 13 enterprises of the kind – all of them were profitable for the state. Thus, the “Belarusian metallurgical plant” has coefficient 2.0 which gives the enterprise the right to introduce double wages in comparison with other state enterprises.
Belarusian channels did not use to have any privilege concerning the salaries of their employees because they were financed with the help of budget money. But the situation will change starting from August. The Council of Ministers has introduced coefficient 2.2 for these organizations which means that the wages will be doubled. Limits for extra pay have also been removed for heads of the enterprises.
Now state TV journalists will have one of the highest coefficients in the country. Only “Beltechexport” has a higher coefficient (2.6) being the most famous Belarusian enterprise dealing with export and import of weapons and defense military equipment.
