Russian Ambassador: Belarus to get money in July or August

“The credit will be allocated in any case. It may happen in July or August… It has been decided,” Alexander Surikov claimed at the press conference dated for Russia Day on June 11.

The allocation of money is a complicated issue, the Ambassador stressed. The Russian State Duma is coordinating Minsk credit with the state budget now, he said.

The Kremlin promised the $2bn credit to Belarus last autumn. Official Minsk only received $450 thousand of the so-called ‘quick credit’ from the Russian bank VTB since then. Russia considers the money to be part of the promised 2 billions while the National Bank thinks that it was a separate credit allocated by the Russian bank.
