Ukrainian Ambassador unexpectedly summoned to Kyiv

Ukrainian Ambassador Raman Biassmertny has been unexpectedly summoned to Kyiv, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Late at night, he was invited to speak on air on the Ukrainian TV-channel TVi. According to the host of the program Mikhail Kniazhytski, is was expected that Biassmertny would give an interview from Minsk via Skype. Neither the Ambassador, nor the host revealed the reason of the summon. The program was dedicated to currency and customer crisis in Belarus.

Mr. Biassmertny claimed that Belarus was most likely to get a 3-billon dollars credit from the EurAsEC stabilization foundation:

"The issue of the credit from the EurAsEC stabilization foundation will be considered on June 4 in Kyiv. This is very soon. I cannot predict what decision will be taken, but, according to our information, they are close to deciding positively with regard to provision of a 3-billion dollars credit, 1 billion 240 million for the current year with suspension for 10 years".

However, in his opinion, this credit will not be enough to lead the country out of the economic crisis which started after the presidential election in December 2010.

"With such a deficit and a debt for the consumed power products before the Russian Federation - this is a drop in a sea. At present moment, the procedure of purchasing-selling of "Beltransgas" to the benefit of "Gasprom" has already been completed, but there is also a great debt. These procedures are likely to be continued", — the Ukrainian diplomat stated.

Let us remind you, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Konstantyn Hryschenko criticized Raman Biassmertny in February, because he dared to declare his personal opinion about Belarusian election being non-democratic, "despite a diplomat's ethics". Konstantyn Hryschenko said then: "In Ukraine, the ethics of diplomatic service does not allow speaking up as a person. When a person starts diplomatic service, it means, he should leave his personal convictions at home".

In May, literally two weeks ago, the fraction of Communists in the Supreme Rada expressed their dissatisfaction with Raman Biassmertny as an Ambassador to Belarus. Let us remind you, the diplomat was appointed as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine to Belarus in the end of his close by the previous Ukrainian President Victor Yuschenko.
