Shop: We have always chased away amateur photographers and we'll always do

Euroradio has clarified how the shops react to the customers who take pictures of price tags, and whether it is allowed to take pictures in shops.

Security service of «Biggz» supermarket claims that there is internal instruction which forbids taking pictures. They explain the prohibition easily - taking care of the customers' security.

“Our concern is to provide security of customers, not prices, in the first place. A supermarket is an even more public place than a metro station. When a person comes to us and starts making some drawings, we ask what he is doing. When someone takes pictures, we ask what for? May be he wants to see where people gather the most to install an explosive device there!”

Employees of "Radzivilauski" store, located in the "Stalitsa" shopping center, say that it is better not to take pictures - it's annoying.

“There is no law which forbids taking pictures, no one can do anything to you for this”.

According to the employee of the "Radzivilauski" store, their security guards are quite loyal, while the guard in supermarkets may be stricter.

Representatives of "Susedzi" store, located in the "Riga" shopping center, confess that, although there is no law forbidding to take pictures in shops, they have always chased away amateur photographers and will always do this.

“There are people who take pictures. Naturally, this annoys customers, and shop assistants, as it is unclear why they do this and what they are going to do with these pictures. We have always chased away amateur photographers and will always do this. No shop will ever like it. Competitors also come take pictures of products' disposition and price tags”.

The store's employee adds that a guard can react to the photo-shoot in a different way each time. He may ask to leave the trade hall or to delete the photo - this depends on a guard and on your ability to negotiate with him.
