Online shops set dollar exchange rate at 3800

Euroradio has decided to find out how the currency deficit has affected Belarusian online shops. At one of the internet-shop we contacted the dollar costs 3800 rubles. The sales have decreased, notes the shop, but there are still clients.

Shop assistant: “They sell Belarusian rubles even at this price”.

Only 10 purchases were made in the last 1.5 weeks, says the Internet e-shop. Buyers prefer paying with Belarusian rubles.

The currency deficit problems have created obstacles to buying goods, said Paval, operator of another shop. There is no foreign currency and foreign suppliers are not willing to accept Belarusian rubles.

Paval: “We import goods from different countries. For example, from Russia. They accept Russian rubles or dollars. We have no currency and it is a problem. We have to use Belarusian rubles. And they either refuse to accept Belarusian rubles or set the exchange rate to 3800 or 400. That is why we have to change the exchange rate in the shop”.
