Mickey Mouse celebrates birthday today

The day of the first showing of the motion film Steamboat Willie in the Colony Theater in New York is considered Mickey Mouse's birthday. This cartoon is often called the first sound motion film, but in fact it was an episode of Max Fleischer's Song Car-Tunes which was the first. It was shown in 1924.

Mickey Mouse also appeared in a mute film Plane Crazy, presented on May 15, 1928. However, this cartoon was not a success and Mickey Mouse came into history due to Steamboat Willie.
