Historian can pay for education in 2 years, programmer - in 2 months
A dentist will have to work for three years to pay for the whole period of education. Euroradio has tracked whether higher education pays for itself quickly.
“I graduated from the university in 2010. I work in secondary school #44. I am a pedagogue, organizer and teacher of history. I rent a flat and I pay for it and this is actually the only thing I can afford", - says teacher Yulya Kureichyk who graduated for the BSU Department of History two years ago.
Yulya's salary is 2.4 millions now. However, the education at the faculty of history in BSU costs 10 millions a year. It is necessary to work in a school for two years to pay for the diploma.
“I graduated from BSUIR in 2010. I managed to find a job at the end of the fifth year of my studies. There are no problems with vacations and I rent a flat", - says programmer Dzyanis.
He makes about a thousand dollars. The most expensive BSUIR faculty costs 9.5 million a year. It is cheaper than the faculty of history! And it will pay for itself in six months. But it may be quicker!
“I graduated from the BSU Department of Applied Mathematics. I found a good job immediately. I make about 3.5 thousand dollars now", - says programmer Anton.
Studying at his faculty costs the same as at the faculty of history - about 10 millions. All the five years of studies will pay for itself in less than 2 months with such a salary.
“We receive very, very little. 2.7 millions, up to 3 millions", - say dentists working in polyclinic #4. And you need seniority!
“I have already taken an internship. I work in a children's policlinic. I make about 1.9 millions now (this is the salary + the advance of the wage). My friend is nearby, she is a dentist too. She makes 1.6 millions. I rent a flat but it is very difficult because the wage only allows you to rent a flat and buy milk and bread", - says dentist Nasta Amelchanka.
It costs 12 millions a year to become a dentist. It turns out that the most expensive profession pays for itself slower than others. It does not seem to have sense...
There are only three vacancies for dentists on the website praca.by. Policlinic #15 offers the smallest wage - 2.8 millions a month. Private policlinics offer more - about 5 millions a month.
There is also one vacancy for teachers of history - in Minsk grammar school #30. They offer 2.5 millions and ask about your... seniority and category.
Programmers are in demand though - there are 137 vacancies and the wage can reach 3 thousand dollars.
