Euro zone prepares for new bank notes
The European Central Bank and the national banks of the euro zone states took this decision.
The second
series of euro bank notes will have extra protection against counterfeiting,
holograms and watermarks bearing the image of Europa - a character of the
ancient Greek mythology.
The bank notes of the old model will first be used in conjunction with the new
bank notes, BELTA informs. However, after a while the current bank notes will
cease to be legal tender of payment.
The first bank note of the new model with a value of 5 euros will be officially
presented on January 10, 2013. It will appear in the turnout in May
2013.
