The government approved the list of import-replaceable goods for the year 2012. The Ministry of Industry is supposed to provide the Belarusians with bread machines and hand dryers. "Belarusian State Food Industry" will make our own "Kinder-Surprise". Belarusian baby diapers will be a little bit cheaper than the imported ones, promises deputy director of the enterprise "BelEsmo" Syarhej Chorny.

"It cannot be done this fast. Probably, in the middle of the year, in Summer - June, July maybe".

The Belarusian baby diapers will have Turkish design, Belarusian production, Italian manufacturing line, and partly Belarusian raw materials. "We hope to get profit from it, otherwise, why shall we do this?" - Syarhej Chorny says.

According to the decree, 7 million baby diapers should be produced in 2012. Euroradio has calculated that in this case every Belarusian baby will get only 14 diapers a year!

"7 million is a rather weird number. Our annual scope is about 112 million...If everything goes well, we will produce 20-30 million this year. This is what we think", — Syarhej Chorny assures.

According to Euroradio's calculations, women will get just three packs of Belarusian sanitary towels a year (it is planned to produce 8 million).

Belarusian constructors have been produced by the enterprise "Palesse" in Kobryn. The producers called their constructors "similar to LEGO" in a conversation with Euroradio. An employee of this enterprise claims that his children play with the Belarusian LEGO as well.

"Palesse": "We are speaking about the same constructors which we produce now, "similar to LEGO". The only difference is that LEGO has small details and we have bigger details. Probably, they thought this may be considered import-replaceable goods..."

Euroradio has unexpectedly found out that the majority of import-replaceable constructors go for...export. This is because the price is lower than for the imported ones.

"Palesse": "The principle of parts and fittings' compatibility is the same as in LEGO, but they are absolutely different in fact. This is because LEGO has small parts, and there's a great variety of figures, types, and constructors there. We are much more discreet. Bigger size - smaller assortment".

Belarusian Turkish coffee pots are made at the enterprise "Smarhonposud" in the framework of the import-replacement program. Director of the enterprise Andrej Syarou assures that they will manage to produce the 8 thousand Turkish coffee pots that the country needs. To Euroradio's question why Turkish coffee pots, he replies simply: "Not everyone likes coffee from a coffee machine, some prefer Turkish coffee pots..."

Meanwhile, if we take a look around the department of household utensils in the central GUM store, we'll see Chinese and Dutch toilet brushes, Polish brushes and shovels, Russian bread containers. The Poles provide us with boards and soap boxes. As for such "complicated" plumbing equipment as sink plungers... They arrived to Belarus from...Holland!
