Differential tariffs for electricity and gas introduced
These changes will come into force on February 1, 2013 as per Council of Ministers' resolution
According to the document, Belarus introduces "electricity tariffs depending on the quantity of electricity used per month" since February 1, 2013. This form of payment will be applied to the citizens who live in houses (apartments), equipped with instruments of individual metering of electricity.
In particular, customers who live in houses with electric stoves will pay for electricity at regular rates in case of average consumption of 250 kWh. If consumption is 250 kWh to 400 kWh, coefficient 1.3 will be applied to the usual tariff.
If a subscriber requires more than 400 kilowatt-hours of electricity per month,
he will pay the tariff, ensuring full cost recovery for electricity services.
Subscribers living in houses with gas stoves will pay for electricity on regular rates, if monthly consumption does not exceed 150 kWh. If the monthly consumption is 150-300 kWh inclusive, coefficient 1.3 will be applied to the ordinary tariff.
Subscribers living in houses that are not equipped with electric and gas
equipment, will pay for electricity at regular rates if the monthly volume of
consumption is up to 300 kWh inclusive. If they consume more than 300
kilowatt-hours of electricity per month, the coefficient 1.3 will be
used, but the tariffs cannot exceed 100% of cost recovery.
The resolution also says that such a procedure for payment for electricity does
not concern large families and family type houses, families with disabled
children or a family where one parent is disabled in Group 1, and the second
looks after him. Single-parent families raising a disabled child also fall to
the category of beneficiaries.
