Chairman of U.S. Helsinki Commission demands a trial against Lukashenka
Congressman Christopher H. Smith has said this at the hearings of the Commission with regard to Belarus.
The hearings took place on November 15. Smith has informed that he will address to the U.S. Presidential Administration, asking to work on this issue so that the International criminal court in the Hague would set accusations against Alyaksandr Lukashenka, Radio Liberty informs.
Smith has made such a statement after the speech of ex-presidential candidate Ales Mikhalevich. He told about tortures in the KGB prison, in particular, about "stretch-out", walking naked in the cold, standing by the wall almost leg-split for a long time, threats and moral pressure.
