As Euroradio has found out, part of the waste - nuclear fuel - will be sent to Russia for processing. The burial grounds for nuclear waste may be built in Chernobyl, however, it has not been decided yet.

“The Ministry of Nature does not have information about the fact that nuclear waste will be buried on the territory of Belarus. The waste will be sent to Russia", - explained deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Anatol Lis to Euroradio.

Euroradio noted that only fuel would be sent to Russia. What about the other waste?

The response of the Ministry of Nature was impressive: "What other waste (nuclear waste. - Euroradio's note) do you mean? I do not understand it, what other waste can there be?" - asked Anatol Lis. He also noted that there would be no burial grounds in Belarus.

The Ministry of Energy presented a different version for some reason: naturally, all NPP nuclear waste will be buried on the territory of the Republic of Belarus.

“According to international conventions, exporting nuclear waste is not allowed! This is nuclear waste! I only mentioned fuel! Nuclear fuel will return to Russia for processing. Naturally, the waste will remain here", - replied the Ministry of Energy.

They also noted that the location of burial grounds had not been chosen so far:

“It is necessary to analyze the soil and conditions: just like it was done when they were looking for a place for the NPP. We have a lot of places for such burial grounds in Belarus. Chernobyl territories have not been used for a long time".
