Traffic police: 20 drunken drivers detained in Minsk

28 drivers did not have a driving license on them, BELTA reports. 77 people were stopped for speeding. There were 47 road accidents in Minsk, one person was injured.

The law that allows confiscating cars from drunken drivers came into power in Belarus on October 24. If a person is detained for drunken driving twice a year, their car may be confiscated. If the car was borrowed, it will still be confiscated from the owner. It does not apply to stolen cars. The fines for drunken driving also increased – to 6.5-13 million roubles.

On average, about 15 drunken drivers were detained in Minsk every day last week, ONT reports. It means that the 20 drivers detained on Sunday is a new record.
