Raman Myantsyuk goes on protest hunger strike

Raman Myantsyuk who rammed “the live shield” created out of cars with people on Minsk-Miklashevichy highway in March has gone on a hunger strike. The hearing of his case has continued in Minsk Moscow District Court today.
Let us remind you that Myantsyuk pled guilty and asked the court not to imprison him. He apologized to the victims and driving inspectors involved in the incident. Raman Myantsyuk is accused of a road violation that resulted in injuries and drunken driving. He is threatened with 5 years of imprisonment.

The sentence will be pronounced to him today. Myantsyuk announced his desire to go on a hunger strike at the beginning of the today’s hearing. He did it to express a protest against “false accusations” and asked the court not to imprison him and to penalize him in some other way.
