Presidential contenders want to cut teledebates records themselves

The Central Election Commission decided the teledebates before this year's presidential elections should be recorded. The time for showing of the recorded debates on air, their time frames and other technical issues will be defined by Belteleradiocompany. Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu has informed Euroradio that he will agree to take part in the recorded debates only on certain terms to his advantage:

Nyaklyaeu: "If they give me the working material and say, here, you can do whatever you want with it - then good! I have an opportunity to find a director and make it technically correct myself. Or if they show me a ready program so I could give my consent to put it on air. But if they do everything by themselves and broadcast without asking me first... I used to work on TV, I know everything can be twisted any way you like...".

As Euroradio informed earlier, presidential contenders' attitude to the idea of recorded debates is different. Jaraslau Ramanchuk had a negative experience of such programs so he would not agree to that. Vital Rymasheuski said everything depended on other terms. Ryhor Kastusyou is willing to participate in the debates in any case.

As in 2006, not only the contenders themselves will have an opportunity to debate in front of the cameras, but their representatives as well. Apart from the debates, the contenders will speak on TV twice, and on the radio twice, free of charge.
