Presentation of documentary about Homel Kurapaty
A presentation of a documentary “Forest of death” took place in Homel. It was dedicated to mass shootings of people that had taken place in Stalin’s time not far from the city – in the Try Slupki and Borki tracts.
The shootings were recalled last year when the Ministry of Defense was investigating the origin of mass graves there. Local inhabitants said that those were victims of the People's Commissariat of Internal Affairs. The official commission did not give any certain answer about those who had shot those people.
A civil activist Vyachaslau Siuchyk who participated in the presentation told ERB:
“As far as we know, the authorities ascribed the crimes of the communist regime to the fascist regime. This decision seems to be final. No wonder we are not satisfied with it. The Belarusian public should search other methods of commemorating victims of Stalin’s regime”.
Sіuchyk hopes that a great documentary about Homel Kurapaty will appear by the end of this year.
