Popular Front party's congress to elect new leader

The 11th congress of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front is today taking place in Minsk. Despite the hurdles from the authorities, almost 350 delegates from across Belarus arrived in the capital city to elect a new party leader. The current chairman Liavon Barshcheuski said earlier that he would not run for the next term. His deputies -- Viktar Ivashkevich and Aliaksei Yanukevich -- are contending for the party's top post.
