Popular Front party wants national committee for Freedom Day celebrations

The Party of the Belarusian Popular Front has proposed to establish a national committee for staging the celebrations of the Belarus's Independence Day on March 25. Representatives from the political parties, NGOs and prominent public figures are expected to join the organizing committee.

According to the leader of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front, Vincuk Vjacorka, "March 25 has to become the main day of the spring 2007 when we can voice our vision of the future of Belarus, reports the party's web site, pbnf.org.

On March 25, 1918 the Council of the Belarusian People's Republic declared the state independence of this country.

Currently, this date is marked as the Freedom Day. Last year, severeal dozens of thousand of people took part in a mass rally in the capital Minsk.
