Political prisoner Mikola Statkevich turns 59
It will be his fourth birthday on end marked in prison.
Political prisoner Mikola Statkevich has turned 59 today, on August 12. He is the only presidential candidate-2010 who is still in prison. Statkevich has been imprisoned for more than 4 years.
Minsk Lenin District Court sentenced him to six years of imprisonment on charges of ‘the organization of mass riots on December 19, 2010’ in May 2011.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka has not decided yet whether the politician should be released early, he told Euroradio. If it does happen, it will be done before the presidential election.
