Police prevent democratic activists from finding out “What is not broadcasted by BT”

Special police troops and several dozen policemen put an end to a meeting of activists of the movement “For Freedom” who had arrived from all over Belarus to meet each other not far from Minsk. The picnic organized by the movement “For Freedom” took place on August 11. Policemen had been looking for the participants of the picnic since morning. About one hundred democratic activists took part in it. But the place they gathered at was found only in the evening – at about 6 p.m. The leader of the movement “For Freedom” Alyaksandr Milinkevich said that the police did not manage to ruin the programme of the action:

“We did not have enough time to watch videos sent for the contest “What is not broadcasted by BT”. The rest of the programme was fulfilled because the police arrived very late”.

The picnic of the movement “For Freedom” took place on the territory of a former camp belonging to a private person now. When the police rushed in they ordered everyone to leave threatening the activists with detention.

According to the information agency “BelaPAN”, nobody was detained but the police confiscated the sound equipment leased for the action.
