Poland imposes sanctions on Lukashenka and hundreds of officials

Poland has prepared visa sanctions for Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka and a few hundred representatives of his regime, informs Radio Liberty.

According to the unofficial information presented by Polish diplomatic sources, the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has prepared the list of people responsible for the repressions that started after the election on December 19: prosecutors, judges, officials and members of special services.

It is known that there are several hundred names including Lukashenka on the list. However, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not published the whole list yet and has not presented the exact list of people the sanctions will be imposed on. It is only known that Foreign Minister Syarhei Martynau will not be on the list to avoid limiting dialogue opportunities.

The European Union is expected to impose similar sanctions on January 31.
