Pofalla: Germany will never put up with brutal reprisals

"Mr. Pofalla's office stands for sanctions against the Belarusian dictator Aliaksandr Lukashenka".

The Chief of Staff of the German Chancellery and a Federal Minister for Special Affairs Ronald Pofalla has published an article with such a name in the German weekly magazine Focus.

According to Pofalla, the people who went to the streets of Minsk on December 19 wanted to defend freedom and democracy. Lukashenka's choice to use violence against them cannot be understood and justified. 

"Germany will use all the powers and opportunitites in the framework of the EU and will never put up with such a brutal violation of human rights in Europe", — says the German Minister.

To his opinion, Europe needs to get back to sanctions against the official Minsk.The Chief of Staff of the German Chancellery appeals to the EU leaders, as well as to the Council of Europe, to be united in their actions in this field.
