Pinsk – regional AIDS leader
There are 328 HIV-positive people officially registered in Pinsk now. Pinsk doctors have revealed 30 new AIDS carriers since the beginning of the year. Cf.: there are 115 HIV-positive people in Brest (regional centre) and 2 – in Masty (district centre). Specialists of the Hygiene and Epidemiology centre note that the infection used to be spread by drug addicts who did not use disposable syringes. However, cases of sexual transmission are becoming common now.
