Pinsk policemen not punished for rude dispersal of sellers (video)

Policemen rudely dispersed a group of sellers near the mini market “Zahodni” in Pinsk on July 7.

Pinsk police administration have conducted a check-up in connection with it, human rights website Viasna reports. The officer told the sellers many times not to violate the trade rules, the administration claimed.  But they ignored the policeman, refused to get in the police car and tried to escape. It made the officer use force, the administration said.

Meanwhile, the policemen’s actions were called “tactically inexpert” because the sellers were detained in a huge crowd of people which “created a conflict and drew other citizens’ attention although they did not know what was going on.”

Head of Brest police Ivan Sauchyts apologized for “the unprofessional actions”. The Investigation Committee has been trying to find out if the policemen abused their power for two months.

Two sellers and the man who tried to protect the women during the conflict were fined from 100 thousand to 2 million roubles.
