Pentagon spokesman visiting Minsk, meeting with Lukashenka

According to the US Embassy in Belarus, on 28-30 March, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Michael Carpenter is in Minsk on an official visit.

Pentagon officials have scheduled a meeting with the Ministry of Defense and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of our country, as well as with Aliaksandr Lukashenka.

The embassy said that Carpenter's visit comes after consultations conducted by the Defense Ministry delegation, when it visited Washington in December 2015.

According to media reports, the spokesman for the Pentagon is known for his tough anti-Russian stance. In particular, he said that the United States never recognized the annexation of Crimea. Carpenter also called Russia the main destabilizing factor in Europe.
